Our Interior Painting Process

You can depend on CertaPro Painters® of Omaha, NE to deliver on our promise of care, conduct, quality, value and certainty. This is what defines professionalism and an extraordinary painting experience.

  • Step 1 - Color Consultation

Before we start a paint job, you will have to choose your color. If you would like to replicate a color already on your wall, you can use an old can of paint for reference, or you can take a chip to the paint store. We can help you identify the color, the finish, and type of paint with our visualizer tools, and we also offer a Color Consulting Service if you need help coming to a decision.

  • Step 2 - Protect the Area

We cover the furniture and floors with a new, clean piece of protective plastic sheeting. We also protect your floors with drop cloths, taking care to secure every inch of the room.

  • Step 3 - Prepare Surfaces

Our painting crew prepares the walls for interior painting by filling any holes or cracks in ceilings and walls, sealing any stains, and scuff sanding any uneven surfaces, including loose or old paint. This creates the smooth, clean canvas necessary for a beautiful finish.

  • Step 4 - Apply New Paint

After any areas repaired in the previous step are primed, we apply premium quality paints for a uniform finish. There are multiple finish options, including flat, matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, and high-gloss, and we will have gone over the benefits of each with you beforehand so you can make an informed decision. The time will vary depending on the size of the job, but we will always ensure to work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

  • Step 5 - Clean Up

The paint dries within a few hours, and you do not need to vacate the house while this is happening. The crew removes all the painting materials and coverings. We sweep your floors and carpets and put everything back exactly where we found it while paying close attention to doing a thorough job cleaning the work area.

  • Step 6 - Walk Through Inspection

After our own inspection, your Job Site Supervisor will walk you through the space, giving you the opportunity to review our work and to provide any initial feedback. You may also be contacted for a follow-up satisfaction survey so that we know how we measured up to your expectations. Our paint jobs are designed to last up to 7 years on a properly maintained surface, so you will get to enjoy your beautiful newly painted room for years to come.

Interior Painting Questions

How much does it cost to paint a house interior?

Interior painting costs depend on the rooms and surfaces included, square footage, ceiling height, surface condition, preparation, color changes, number of coats, paint specifications, detail work, and local labor requirements. Request a project-specific estimate for pricing based on your home.

How long does an interior painting project take?

Timing depends on the number and size of the rooms, surface preparation, repairs, coat requirements, crew size, drying time, and access to the work areas. Your local team should provide an expected schedule before work begins.

Do I need to move furniture before the painters arrive?

Your project representative will explain what should be moved before the crew arrives. Small, fragile, valuable, or personal items should generally be removed from the work area. Arrangements for larger furniture should be confirmed before the project begins.

Can existing interior paint colors be matched?

Color-matching may be possible using an existing paint record, leftover paint, or a sample from the surface. Differences in age, fading, sheen, application, and the original product can affect how closely new paint matches the existing finish.

Can wall or trim damage be repaired before painting?

Many independently owned and operated CertaPro Painters® businesses can complete certain non-structural repairs, such as patching selected drywall damage or addressing minor trim issues. Capabilities vary by location and the extent of the damage.

Can I remain home during interior painting?

That depends on the rooms being painted, ventilation, product specifications, household needs, and your comfort level. Discuss room access, pets, children, ventilation, drying time, and any sensitivities with your local team before work begins.
